Candida Albicans

UTI Bladder Infections

Recurring Cystitis

You may not have Depression or Chronic Fatigue, you may have Candida.

I am placing some information here for you to check out. Don’t consider Anti-depressants when your answer could be something totally different – something you and your GP/MD did not suspect (in a 10 min consultation). I shall refer to a few really good websites to address Candida fairly because they specialize in it.

We must know that Candida is a masquerader of various different health conditions – sometimes synonymously (at the same time). You don’t have to be a victim of this culprit. Please be informed. If you have Candida Albicans, this mountain can be shifted.

Are you anxious….do you have unaccountable mood-swings….irritibility that PMS does not account for….fatigue that is hard to explain because you don’t overwork and you get enough rest? With a Naturopath, all these and more can sometimes be accounted for in the one diagnosis. I would like to give you some resources that may help you pinpoint it and deal with it effectively – that is what those websites are for. I wish you well in your endeavor.

It is my intention to let you choose from different approaches.

This girl was diagnosed with Bipolar – She actually had Candida – Now she is Well.

The best Dietary Supplement for UTIs Tract Infections and keeping them Away!

I’m speaking about D-Mannose Capsules or Powder.

These Dietary Supplements Support Urinary Tract Health

Imbalances of the urinary tract are widespread, and it is estimated that 20 percent of women experience them. D-Mannose supports the health of the entire urinary tract: the bladder, ureter, renal pelvis, urethra and the renal parenchyma. D-Mannose is a special substance naturally found in some trees, berries and fruits, such as cranberry. It complements the body's natural cleaning process by washing Away Undesirable Particles. Although small amounts of D-Mannose are metabolized by our body, much of it is rapidly lost in the urine. In the bladder, D-Mannose can adhere to undesirable foreign substances, preventing them from sticking to the lining of the bladder. Because insubstantial amounts of D-Mannose are used by the body, it does not interfere with blood sugar regulation.

Cranberry Supplements work in a similar way for prevention of UTIs and Cystitis after an infection has been dealt with successfully but usually, they are are not effective when it

comes to dealing with infections themselves - they can be stubborn!

In addition to practicing daily hygiene, all women affected this way would be wise to avoid wearing slacks too often and tight fitting pants. Make sure you go to the bathroom immediately when you need to - don't leave it off like the kids do - fully empty your bladder at all times. Dab with a tissue instead of wiping and don't use colored or perfumed toilet paper.Empty your bladder after marital relations and consider taking a course of Probiotics to correct bacteria in your body.

It is not uncommon for dehydration to lead to Tract Infections. So try to keep hydrated.

This can be naturally - avoid plastic bottles. Take note if you are excessive with caffeine

because that is dehydrating!

Also, refrain from too much sugar and fructose in your diet. This will help you avoid Candida (yeast infections) as well. Limiting your Caffeine intake will help.

Make sure you drink at least 500-800ml of healthy water each day. Cut out Sodas and Fruit Juice if infections are a problem and go easy with wine.

PURE CRANBERRY JUICE OR CRANBERRY EXTRACT TABLETS DAILY ARE STRONGLY

RECOMMENDED AFTER INFECTION IS DEALT WITH TO STOP IT RECURRING.

It is a Preventative (only) for some and not for others!

Cranberry juice been used for decades for the prevention of mild urinary tract infections (UTI).

Diet may play a role in the risk of contracting a urinary tract infection (UTI), an illness that affects more than half of women at some point during their lives.

UTIs are often caused by bacteria in stools, and dietary changes can affect the bacterial flora involved, which is why researchers suggest that diet may affect risk.

Cranberry (Lingonberry) juice has been found to be particularly effective in preventing UTI recurrence, as women who consumed fresh juices, especially from berries, were less likely to have experienced a UTI recently.

Most berries are rich in flavonols, such as epicatechin. Plants produce flavonols in response to microbial infection, which suggests that these substances may play a role in antimicrobial defense.

Further, epicatechin potent prevents bacteria like E. coli from attaching to human cells. Since the bacteria cannot attach to the lining of the bladder wall, they slide out of the bladder without causing an infection.

Although fruits such as apples, cherries, and plums are rich in epicatechin, the flavonol content of berries is higher, which may explain why berries are associated with a reduced risk of UTI recurrence.

by American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2003

Please keep in mind that Cranberry Juice sole in Supermarkets is often adulterated with Sugar

that can hinder UTIs (a tract infection) rather than help it and is not beneficial to those with Candida.

Cranberry juice has another carbohydrate that a certain study, and most all studies on this subject, tends to ignore. The active ingredient in cranberry juice is a carbohydrate called Mannose.

In the past, Mannose has been difficult to obtain due to costs and manufacturing capabilities. The pure, high-quality form has just recently become commercially available as a natural supplement, and now I can finally offer it to you!

D-Mannose is not a drug. This nutritional supplement occursnaturally in peaches, apples, and berries. D-Mannose is a rare saccharide found in some plant and food substances -- and we even produce it in our own bodies. Non-toxic and safe, ClearTract D-Mannose:

  • Supports a healthy urinary tract
  • Is 10- 50 times stronger than cranberry!
  • Produces rapid action in as little as 24-48 hours
  • Does not kill friendly bacteria
  • Is safe for long term use -- neutral pH
  • Is 100% all natural D-Mannose and nothing else
  • Is the strongest natural urinary tract product available

The Mannose actually adheres to the receptors on the lining of the bladder that attach to the bacteria. This forces the bacteria to slide right off and into the toilet. It is amazingly effective, but you must remember it is only a Band-Aid, though a safer one than prophylactic antibiotic use or cranberry juice

(for stubborn infections)

D-Mannose may work for mild UTIs, but it is important to note that if it is not working you will want to consider the use of an antibiotic, as the infection can spread into your kidneys and cause some very serious damage if left untreated.

If you do use an antibiotic it is important to take a high-quality, high-potency probiotic to replace the beneficial bacteria that the antibiotic kills.

It is also important to recognize that prevention of urinary tract infections is also an essential principle.

In the 20 years I have been practicing clinical medicine, it has been my observation that one of the most frequent causes of these infections are less than careful hygiene after one develops loose stools or diarrhea.

It is very easy to contaminate your fingers when wiping yourself with toilet paper, and if those contaminated fingers come anywhere close to the opening of the urethra, there is a high possibility of infection in predisposed individuals.

by Dr Joseph Mercola (Physician and Nutritionist)

For many years, researchers believed that the ability of cranberries and cranberry juice to help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) was partly related to the strong acidity of the cranberries. Recent research has shown that it's not the acidity of the cranberries, but the unusual nature of their proanthocyanidins (PACs) that is related to prevention of UTIs. The special structure of these PACs (involving A-type linkages between their components)

acts as a barrier to bacteria that might otherwise latch on to the urinary tract lining. In many studies, the UTI-preventing benefits of cranberries are somewhat modest and limited to women who have recurrent UTIs.

Among the fruits and vegetables richest in health-promoting antioxidants berries such as cranberries rank right up there at the top of the list. Antioxidants are essential to optimizing health by helping to combat the free radicals that can damage cellular structures as well as DNA.

by George Mateljan (Functional Foods Author and Expert)

Fresh Cranberries or Pure Cranberry Juice has a good effect on our Immune System, our Skin, and may also soothe respiratory inflammation from colds and influenza. They can also benefit our heart and weight-loss. Their high concentration of Antioxidants contribute to an Anti-Aging program.

Caution: While cranberry can help prevent dental caries, too much of this juice can cause a wearing of the enamel of the teeth. People who have diabetes or stomach problems should also exercise caution while drinking cranberry juice.Too much of this juice can lead to an upset stomach, diarrhea (you don't want) and elevated blood sugar levels. I would opt for a good Cranberry supplement instead.

FRESH CRANBERRIES ARE FINE. DRIED CRANBERRIES HAVE TOO MUCH SUGAR CONTENT.

IN FACT, DR MERCOLA ADVISES D MANNOSE IN PLACE OF CRANBERRY FOR THOSE WHO

ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO INFECTIONS, DUE TO SUGAR CONTENT.

Two Testimonies - Word of Wisdom

You might recall my messages this last month about my kidney pain.

I'd had pain getting worse for 2 months until it became almost unbearable, with pain irradiating all the way to the shoulder blade and down the leg.

I was prescribed two courses of antibiotics, the second being stronger than the first one. I finished taking the second course last Friday, but the pain was still there.

I ordered D-Mannose and started taking the "emergency dose", 2 tsp every 2h on Friday afternoon. By Sunday lunch time, the pain was gone!!!

Next time, if I get kidney pain, I will take the same treatment. It's costly but if

I can avoid taking antibiotics again, I'll do that.

If you read me, I strongly recommend it to you. And by the way, I had a scan done today which showed nothing in the kidneys. I am sure now that you can have kidney pain without obvious infection, it's the 2nd time I’ve been through this.

PLEASE REMEMBER, IF SERIOUS UTIs BLADDER INFECTIONS ARE NOT

MANAGED CORRECTLY - be it Medical or Natural - IT CAN LEAD TO KIDNEY INFECTIONS.

THAT WOULD BE FAR MORE SERIOUS. YOU DON'T WANT THAT!!!

Tract Infection: What Is It?

Most urinary tractinfections are caused by a variety of bacteria, including Escherichia coli (E. coli), found in feces. Because the openings of the bowel, vagina and urethra are close together, it's easy for the bacteria to spread to the urethra and travel up the urinary tract into the bladder and sometimes the kidneys.

Untreated Urinary Tract Infections: Bladder & Kidney Infections

Infection occurs when the bacteria cling to the opening of the urethra and multiply, producing an infection of the urethra, called urethritis. The bacteria often spread up to the bladder, causing a bladder infection, called cystitis. Untreated, the infection can continue spreading up the urinary tract, causing infection in the kidneys, called pyelonephritis. Pyelonephritis can also occur without a preceding bladder infection.

A kidney infection that is not treated can result in the bacteria entering the bloodstream (this is known as urosepsis), which can be a life-threatening infection requiring hospitalization and intravenous antibiotics.

Dr Alvaro Lucioni MD

Natural Health Experts advise that

Acidic fruits such as tomatoes, pineapple, lemons and limes, oranges and grapefruits are considered acidic foods and can irritate the bladder in some individuals. These foods can cause inflammation to the bladder and make symptoms of a UTI worse, says urologist Dr. Elizabeth Kavaler, author of "A Seat on the Aisle, Please!" It is best to avoid bladder irritants until the UTI is gone.

The American Medical Association suggests that if you have a UTI you avoid spicy foods, dairy products and alcohol. These can be bladder irritants and should not be consumed until the UTI is healed. It is important to be careful with caffeine because caffeine is a stimulant and increases the heart rate, which can circulate bacteria more quickly to the affected area.Caffeinated coffee, teas and sodas should be avoided. Along with those items, chocolate, which contains caffeine, should be eliminated until the infection has subsided. No matter what foods you avoid or eat, be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the duration of a UTI.

The following is one of several Testimonies I have read on the effectiveness of D Mannose!

~ This stuff works!, Nov 10, 2006;- I have had problems with UTIs for years and this is the only supplement that has helped prevent AND treat them consistently. No more antibiotics! I never miss a dose.

It is thought to flush the bugs out of the bladder, combats infections caused by the bacterium E. coli, the cause of nearly 90 percent of all bladder infections. A dose of D-mannose is typically 1,000 mg and can be taken at the first sign of an infection, up to four times a day. It should be continued until the symptoms have completely subsided. D-mannose can be taken once or twice (1,000-2,000 mg) a day to help prevent infections. Though the treatment lacks the support of a large human trial (medically speaking) many have had positive results and it does not produce the common side effects attributed to antibiotic use.

I believe that the majority of my bladder infections were caused by Candida Albicans for a few reasons.

Candia Albicans is a real sweet tooth – just like me!

Candida feeds off sugars, even natural sugars like fruits, and this allows it to grow and spread. There are many foods that it feeds from but highly processed sugary ones seems to be a sure fire hit.

Something as simple as having a glass of coke in the evening, could easily have me waking up at 4am with a painful bladder infection. No fun!

Candida's worst enemy is Cranberry Juice containing sugar.

Curing Chronic Cystitis

in 2001, my only symptom was a burning sensation on visiting the restroom, the cystitis that began in 2007 gave me a sense of extreme urgency that woke me from sleep every 90 minutes. Each time, I would stumble to the bathroom, expecting to pass a quart or more of fluid, often to be greeted with only a few scant drops! The urgency was at its worst in the evening, between 9 and 11 p.m. In the later part of the night, it was accompanied by extreme thirst, dizziness, and dry eyes and mouth. I would wake up, guzzle a glass of water, visit the bathroom, and go back to sleep, only to do it all again in an hour or two.

The practitioner said that test results were OK.

While I was clueless to all of this, I came across posts by people with nighttime urgency who had found relief with two supplements: aloe vera and olive leaf extract. I began taking them and felt about 50% relief by the second night. Within a week, the urgency was gone! I was still waking up to drink water, but I didn’t need to visit the bathroom except when my “tank” was full.

I took two capsules of each, three times a day the first week and then reduced to two capsules of each twice a day. It didn’t seem to matter when I took them. I kept taking them for some months, then kept them on hand, always ready to do a course of a month or two if needed.

if you suffer from digestive problems, you may wish to take these herbs together with a warming herb or herbal supplement. The Chinese are experts in herbal medicine and always combine herbs that are said to have a “cold nature” together with herbs of a “warm nature.” Cold and warm in Traditional Chinese Medicine are metaphors that describe certain real, physical properties of foods and herbs. Aloe vera leaf is considered very cold in nature and taking it for a long time may heal your bladder but weaken your digestion. This can be avoided by taking it with warming herbs like garlic, ginger, or cinnamon, or a nice chai tea.

Annas Success Story – Recurring Cystitis

Everyone with a recurrent cystitis problem is looking for a natural way to treat and cure the problem, because eventually, and unfortunately, the medical solutions for cystitis seem to stop working. Often this can be because antibiotic-resistant bacteria are involved. But it can also be because no bacteria can be found and the practitioner runs out of options. You might hear the phrase, “You’re just going to have to learn to live with it...”

When you hear that it can be very upsetting. This type of frustration at the allopathic approach to cystitis treatment was why Sweet Cures started back in 2003. Anna, the joint founder of Sweet Cures was suffering from recurring cystitis which was going straight to her kidneys. She was also suffering severe side-effects from taking a floroquinolone-based antibiotic, with symptoms suggestive of fluorine toxicity with complications and fibromyalgia-type pain.

So she started looking for a natural cure for cystitis, and found links between the way mannose is used to prevent bacterial adhesion in the lab, and the way bacteria adhere to us in the bladder and urinary tract. Since mannose, being a simple natural sugar, is entirely non-toxic, and is an essential constituent of every cell in the body, we ordered a kilo of the product to be delivered from the USA, which was the minimum quantity available then, and Anna rapidly recovered from her cystitis problems, and has never had a single episode since. Anna had found her cure for cystitis, and she wanted to share it with the world, so Anna gave her job (Anna was a University Lecturer), and devoted their time to bringing this fantastic cystitis treatment to the world.

When normally friendly symbiotic bacteria such as E.coli from the gut get into the urinary tract they rapidly change their character. Urine is a desperately challenging situation for the normal rod-shaped bacteria...

...so they develop fimbrial hairs with mannose receptors to attach to the mannose in our tissue cells. It’s a desperate struggle for survival, and they cling onto us and start releasing toxins to eat away at the lining of the bladder and allow them to deeply embed themselves attached to the mannose molecules of the cells in the bladder lining.

However, this simple and highly effective attachment mechanism can be used against the bacteria. All that is necessary is to introduce mannose molecules into the urine and any bacteria there will rapidly attach to the mannose molecules, filling their fimbrial receptors and making them unable to attach to tissue.

I thought, "Oh no, I've got the cystitis worse than ever!"

I was wrong. The strong smelling urine was caused by the D-Mannose flushing the E.coli out of my kidneys and urinary tract!

Within hours of taking Waterfall D-Mannose, my symptoms were starting to abate. Within a day I was clear of cystitis symptoms. Free at last from the pain, I cried with relief. The truth is that it took months to finally get rid of that propensity for new episodes to threaten (embedded bacteria have to surface to enable attachment and be removed) but now, 14 years later, I remain infection free.

I am so fortunate! I lead a relatively normal life, can walk again (for miles) after spending two years virtually housebound, and I have the comfort of knowing that a small spoonful of Waterfall D-Mannose, as a maintenance dose each night before sleep or around triggers such as intimacy or sport or travelling, prevents the E.coli from ever again winning. I control it permanently!
