that clashes with our body and is absolutely devoid of nutrients.

A Personal Story

Believe it or not, when I was young, I did not have much of an inclination towards sweets or desserts.................and I've always favored savory - especially spicy food! But I enjoyed the occasional mint or peppermint.. And at one time, in my late 20's I was introduced to Tic-Tacs (a very small packet of tiny sweets with concentrated sugar that came in 3 different flavors).

As I said, I liked peppermint, and the taste was so refreshing.....I kept having more.... and next thing, I went from 1 or 2 packets to 8 packets a day! And honestly, if I was out of them, I would have to go out and get some - even if this meant going out at night, low on fuel, whatever and find a shop I had not run out of them! I actually did get very ill, physically after a few months! So Sugar is no friend, believe me!

Everyone has a weakness usually. Mine these days is Crystalized Ginger - nice and spicy! When I get some occasionally, I go for a small packet with the least sugar, dust them off as much as I can and ration them by placing the packet out of reach - in a spot that's inconvenient to get to. This usually works because it can remind you of a decision you've made "health before taste" whatever. My friend, if that is not possible, you could well have an addiction. Please try to get some help before it breaks your pocket or breaks your health!

Dates are Very Nutritious and are known to confer these benefits: They can act against Free Radicals impressively; Support healthy digestion; High in antioxidants against health maladies; May promote brain health; Good for Heart Health and Electrolytes. 

RAW HONEY IS GOOD AND SO IS MAPLE SYRUP.  MAKE SURE THE HONEY IS RAW (not heat processed) AND THAT THE MAPLE SYRUP IS GENUINE (not the cheap one in a plastic container, it's Fake). The truth about AGAVE is that most of it is Boiled Syrup devoid of Nutrients and Very High in Fructose, which does your Body NO Favors!  But I have real doubts that MONK FRUIT is the way to go, like I did with Erythritol when they said it was safe. Monk Fruit also acts as a Sugar Alcohol and they have been proven to affect our Health adversely over time. They also actually known to create False Appetite because it stops a mechanism which switches off Appetite when we've had enough, so they're not such a boon to Dieters after all. 

BEWARE OF ALL ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS WITH THEIR MARKETING GUISES LIKE ASPARTAME, NUTRASWEET, BALANCE, SPLENDA, EQUAL etc ...and it's ALL for big-profits...they don't care about your health! Even XYLIYOL is now found to have nasty Side Effects, according to Dr Josh Axe and other leading Natural Health Advocates!

NOTE: Please make sure that you don't fall for the Stevia Trick or Erythritol, as Recent Research has revealed certain damages to Health that are Very Concerning. Even Xylitol is added to that list  because it is Synthetically Produced now. Criminal Manufacturers!

IN CONCLUSION: I will say that Genuine Maple Syrup, True Raw Honey, Dates; Fresh or Frozen Fruits with their protective Fibre Content are OUR SAFEST OPTIONS. And if you like Jam, go for 100% Fruit Spreads instead  which are Naturally sweetened with Pear Juice or Grape Juice instead of Sugar. Also important to mention here is, Fruit Juice is super rich in Fructose, and often Pasturized for long shelf-life which means it's had all the goodness knocked out of it. I have even heard reports that Oranges that are Months Old are used, which is why it tastes so awful often. It's better to have a glass of Fresh Orange Juice Homemade. You can also make delicious Fruit Smoothies with an Apple and some Frozen Cherries and/or Berries from your Supermarket. It's Delicious AND Nutritional. I do like to encourage rather than discourage.
